Application Process

The National Honor Society application has transitioned to an online setup.

Seniors- Fall Semester Only

Juniors- Both Fall and Spring Semesters

Sophomores- Spring Semester Only

Students may submit their digital application to begin the process:

First Stage: Candidates can apply within the application window in each semester and the invitation will include a digital copy of the application.  Every question on the application must be answered in a single sentence. This is designed to force the applicant into putting a great deal of thought into each question. The applicant is then required to find two unique adults who will then read your sentences for a given pillar and fill out a google form stating that they agree with what you wrote and feel as though it reflects who you are as a person. This reference form will be sent out automatically after the application window closes. Applications are due March 20, 2026 at 4:00pm. Late applications will not be accepted. Juniors and sophomores may have the option of reapplying if they remain eligible and were removed during the First Stage. Sophomore invites are only sent out in the spring.

Second Stage: Complete applications will be reviewed first by our current organization leadership team and then by our Faculty Council. Candidates that were approved to progress their candidacy will be notified by email and given details and forms that are required to continue the pursuit of NHS membership. If a candidate wants to appeal the faculty council's decision, per the NHS by-laws, they may notify Coach Moody who will organize the appeal for the Faculty Council. An appeal must be received within 7 days of the date the notification was sent and must be typed out. Face to Face appeals will not be granted as the Faculty Council is to remain anonymous. If the candidate wants to appeal further, they will need to reference the Hoggard NHS by-laws. If the candidate does not pass the second stage but is eligible next invitation round, they may apply again.

Third Stage: Congratulations! The faculty council has decided to accept you into NHS. While this just gives you the opportunity to pursue a membership, you are not formally a member until Induction. Dues are $50 and they must be paid on School Cash Online (the link to which was sent after your acceptance letter) by April 29, 2026 at 11:59PM, not by the date on the school cash online. The dues cover your graduation stole, induction certificate, your pin with your National Database number, and your registration into the NHS National database. Please check your email daily during this time to ensure communication from the adviser or officer team is received.

Final Stage: Inductions will be done each semester and these ceremonies are not only MANDATORY, it is also when you get your official database certificate, your pin, and your identification card. This ceremony makes your acceptance official. This is also the final step needed before members can add it to college applications, job applications, etc. From this point forward, the laws and by-laws of the National and Hoggard chapters will be in full effect for members. Dismissal procedures for members will apply and members need to understand that character, service, leadership, and scholarship. G.P.A's will be checked at the end of the semester terms, incidents that call in question a member will be determined by the adviser and school administration and then they will be referred to the Faculty Council for determining the course of action.
